Beautification Projects

Blums Bows

I designed some bowties for musical artist, Jesse Blum, as part of his artist merchandise launch. As a way to launch the bows I designed a 2-D illustration styled room, as well as furniture and clothing for the photoshoot. I created the room at Christine Elizabeth Photography Studio here in Staten Island. She was also the photographer for the shoot. This project was a reason for me to create this space that I have longed to make for some time. It was incredible to do. It took me a long time but it came out amazing.

PS 373, Hallway Postcard Mural

In partnership with The Noble Maritime Collection and the CASA grant, I painted this 20’ mural in the hallway at PS 373. I also had the opportunity to make art with some of the students. I loved painting this mural. I got to express my love for flowers and Staten Island.

Exterior Beautification of IS 49

This is my largest mural to date. 3000 square feet. I painted this in a matter of three weeks September 2023 into October. It was an absolutely amazing experience. A selected group of students came with me to the Staten Island Native Plant Center. They got to learn about what the plant center does and how they germinate and the importance of keeping biodiversity within nature. After, we did an afterschool program with the same students who came up with some drawings that I then used as inspiration for this mural. The neighborhood was transformed.

We made the front page of the Staten Island Advance.

Blue Pearl Mermaid Sculptures

I’m not sure where to begin with this project, but what I can say is this brought me to the next level artistically. The project began as a dream of restaurant owner, Peter Botros and I made them a reality. Graphic artist, Brendan Coyle designed them using a 3-D program. The digital design was sent to Makerspace here in Staten Island and the layers of foam from Home depot were cut with a CNC router in slabs. The I, over the next month, possibly 300 plus hours, built them, sculpted them, plastered them , sanded them and painted them. A very good friend of mine, Alan Bruckner helped me create the mount that would then hold them up on the wall at the restaurant. If you would like to see them in person the restaurant is located 37 Navy Pier Ct, Staten Island, NY 10304

IS 49, Meditation Room

IS 49 is one of my favorite places to paint. I feel such a connection there. They have allowed me to truly transform their school in so many ways and for their belief in my artistic vision, I am grateful. The fact that this school cared enough to create a space for their students to go when things get overwhelming, is amazing. I am so honored to have been a part of this project.

PS 52

In partnership with The Noble Maritime Collection, I painted this waterfront themed mural for the exterior of the school. The mural was completed this past summer of 2024. Each student got to render their own color scheme on an illustrated version of this mural.

PS 35, The Clove Valley School

I had the honor of redesigning the front doors, as well as the corner retaining wall at PS 35 last spring/summer at PS 35. I focused on their motto, “Happy in the Hive” and I worked with the students in every single class within the school to source out inspiration for these murals. The mural contains flowers that are native to Staten Island, as I am a big lover of plants and being conscience of what our natural growing plants are and how they impact our environment. I took a bee illustration from many of the students work and added it to the mural. This part might be my favorite. The juxtaposition of child like illustrations with hyper-realistic florals makes my heart happy.
